I have a Lexmark Optra T642n printer. I had to replace the system board assembly and now the printer doesn’t work at all. Can you help??

  2. marketpoint Says:

When replacing any one of these components – System board assembly, Operator panel assembly (upper front cover), or Interconnect card assembly – only replace ONE component at a time. Replace the required component and perform a POR (power on reset) before replacing a second component. If this procedure is not followed, the printer will be rendered inoperable.

Never replace two or more of these components without a POR (power on reset) after installing each one or the printer will be rendered inoperable. And NEVER install and remove any of these components as a method of troubleshooting. Once a component has been installed in a printer, it cannot be used in another printer.

And, just so you know – these same procedures must be followed for many other printers, including Lexmark T642 & T644 as well as Dell printers 5210 & 5310 and IBM’s InfoPrint 1532/1552/1572.

I have a customer who has an Optra T that had the 900 RIP error and then today shows the invalid engine code. Do I need a system board or an engine board or both?

  5. marketpoint Says:

If it is coming up with invalid engine code after flashing a 900 RIP error, start with the engine board. If it still comes up with a 900 error after install the engine board, as a second step, replace the system board.

i’m getting print outs that fade in and out. how do i fix that?

  7. marketpoint Says:

A: For prints that fade in and out, usually on left side, replace the Developer Drive. Part number is 99A0135 for an Optra S or 99A1544 for an Optra T

  8. Sandra Says:

I’m getting an error that reads “Remove paper STD bin” What does that mean?

  9. marketpoint Says:

A: The Standard Bin Error means the output bin is full. Remove the paper from the output bin. This could also be caused by a broken output bin flag, or the flag being stuck in the full (up) position.

i have a T642 with a bad display. replaced the display and the book says to power on reset. but it give a 950.10 nvram mismatch error. it stops before it self tests or can go into diagnostic mode to reset on exit. is there a way to force a power on reset ( POR) if i put the bad display back in, the printer works fine so i think the mother board is good

  11. dkeeton Says:

How do you do a power on reset (POR) on a lexmark t540?

  12. dkeeton Says:

I should have said t640. Sorry.

I have a hp 3800 that will not print from the yellow or the Magenta cartridge. Prints for the black and cyan ok. I have put it in Diag. mode and switched the carts. around and they all work well. I have marked the two carts. not working and they are turning. I was on the phone with my tech support for over an hour and we thought we could change the high voltage board, guess what that didn’t do it. Well being I was already there I changed the dc controler, didn’t help. I just really can’t think of anything I have not done that may help. The only thing left is get on the internet and ask for help, well here I am. HELP!!!!

  14. marketpoint Says:

Possible that both print cartridge drive motors are bad .Part number for motor asm is RM1-2689-000CN.

  15. oldtimer Says:

I have tested them and they do turn the cartridges.
