Q: I’m trying to print envelopes and they’re coming out all wrinkled. How can I rectify this?

A: When envelopes come out wrinkled (or already sealed – a common problem in high humidity conditions), make sure the Envelope Enhancement Feature is turned ON in the paper menu and adjust low/medium/high in diagnostic mode (To get the printer in DIAGNOSTIC mode, hold down the GO and RETURN buttons upon power up.) The fuser in the printer should make a thumping noise when this feature is turned on.

Q: I have a paper tray in my printer (Lexmark monochrome) that only holds a half ream of paper. I know there’s a way to increase that to make it hold the whole ream, which I believe is 500 sheets. What part do I need?

A:There are a few things to consider when deciding if you need a TRAY or if you need a DRAWER. When you want to add capacity to the base machine, you want an additional DRAWER. A drawer comes with a tray -- the mechanism inside the drawer that holds the paper (see illustration). Drawers come with a capacity of either 250 sheets or 500 sheets. The drawer sits under the printer and will provide an additional source of paper.

More tips:
When you are replacing a broken tray – you just need the tray
When you want to hold a different size or type of paper – automatically – you want a drawer
Tray can be a replacement part for the drawer or the printer
